The Rose Bowl, known for sponsorship reasons as Ageas Bowl, is an exceptional, multi-purpose venue built on the outskirts of Southampton. Set within 150 acres of landscaped grounds the principal sport is, of course, cricket, but there is also a championship standard 18-hole golf course.
The Ageas Bowl is home to Hampshire County Cricket Club and is their fourth and definitely most impressive base yet. The club played here since 2001 when construction was completed, moving on from the County Ground, which they had long since outgrown.
Shaped like a circular amphitheatre the grounds offer excellent views from any location, and the beautiful architecture is well admired by award-winning architects Michael Hopkins & Partners.
The grounds quickly became England’s tenth Test venue in 2011 when Sri Lanka visited in mid-June, and the addition of a four-star Hilton Hotel with an integrated media centre overlooking the ground has further cemented this status.
The Ageas Bowl is also well known for holding big-name concerts, from the likes of Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, and R.EM., with its onsite facilities creating outstanding memories.
The final England v India Twenty20 International takes place at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday 6th July 2022; could this be the deciding match?
England’s final Twenty20 International home game against South Africa is at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday 31st July 2022.
The Ageas Bowl is a short 5-mile drive from Southampton city centre, in the small parish of West End, Hampshire.
