Epsom Downs Racecourse has a long history stretching back to the early 1600s when the first recorded race was held on the Downs. Set between Epsom, Tadworth and Langley Vale the course enjoys the beautiful scenery of the Surrey countryside.
Unusually for a racecourse, the track is not a circuit, instead, the course is roughly u-shaped. This provides a real test of stamina for horses and jockeys alike as they ascend to the top of the hill, swiftly taking the famous Tattenham Corner and finishing straight downhill.
Since 1780 the course has hosted the world-famous Investec Derby Festival where thousands of visitors descend on the Downs for two days of flat racing action, eager to witness the spectacle and be part of this truly wonderful event.
Beyond the festival, the racecourse also hosts many other racing events, from the Investec Spring Meeting to the Season Finale, and also holds music and cultural events throughout the summer.
Epsom Downs Racecourse lies to the South of London and enjoys superb transport connections.
Hospitality guests are required to follow a smart casual dress code. Jackets, trousers and a collared shire are encouraged. Smart denim jeans are acceptable, however, jeans must not have tears or rips. It is not a requirement that hats or fascinators are worn on any racedays outside The Derby Festival.
The racecourse postcode is KT18 5LQ for use with GPS equipment. The racecourse is just a few minutes from Epsom Town Centre on the B290 Epsom Downs Road or just off junction 9 of the M25.
