Emirates Riverside is a world-class cricket venue situated by the River Wear in Chester-le-Street, County Durham. A relatively young venue in the cricket world, the Riverside Ground, as it is otherwise known, has quickly risen to prominence since its completion in 1995.
The grounds are predominately used as the home turf of Durham County Cricket Club, who moved in after their acceptance into first-class cricket in 1992. Emirates Riverside continued to develop and hosted its first Test match in 2003, which was a boon for the surrounding area.
Emirates Riverside enjoys an idyllic location sandwiched between Durham to the south and Newcastle upon Tyne to the north, the iconic Lumley Castle overlooks the grounds, clearly visible from the stands.
Aside from the cricket, the grounds regularly host concerts from the likes of Michael Bublé, Westlife and Little Mix, and is also popular for meetings and conferences, parties and celebrations, weddings, and dances.
Emirates Riverside has a significant draw, with fans coming from all over the world to enjoy the first-class action.
