×The Gate is one of the new premium restaurants situated within Twickenham’s new East Stand development. The restaurant runs over two levels and is styled as a Steakhouse, which is popular with a rugby crowd. This is another large Twickenham facility, with a capacity of over 1,000 guests.
The restaurant is situated on Levels 1 & 2 of the new East Stand. Level 1 of the restaurant has no natural light, it is a dark and atmospheric space, which compliments the steakhouse theme. Level 2 has windows overlooking the hustle and bustle of Rugby Road behind the East Stand.
The décor is basic and industrial, with exposed brickwork & heating & air-conditioning ducts. The wooden tables are what you might expect in a steakhouse, with no fancy tablecloths.
Private tables are available for 2-12 guests.
The tickets provided within The Gate are excellent, situated in the East Lower between the 22m and the half-way line. However, unlike the East Wing and Lock Restaurants, you do not have direct access to the seats from the restaurant.
The facility opens 3.5 hrs before kick-off. Snacks are served on arrival followed by a 4-course Chop House style menu, where premium cuts of meat and steaks are served. Twickenham Tea is served post-match.
There is a complimentary bar, which includes Champagne throughout the day. Real ales, Guinness and premium lager & spirits are also available. Half-time drinks are also served in the restaurant. The bar closes 90 minutes after the match has ended.
There is a hostess service, which enhances the drinks service.
There are no guest speakers which is disappointing, however, past players are on hand to socialise with guests.
There are a few TV screens in the restaurant to view other matches but certainly not enough that all guests have a view.
There are no car park passes included in this package, which means guests will have to use public transport, taxis, or source parking themselves in the Twickenham area.
A souvenir match programme is included.
