Rugby World Cup 2023

Rugby’s biggest tournament returns in 2023, and once again, the whole planet will be watching the top 20 teams clash for their chance of glory. Rugby World Cup 2023 will be the tenth edition of the series and, perhaps most significantly, will take place on the year of the 200th anniversary of the invention of the sport by William Webb Ellis.

South Africa are the reigning champions, and they will no doubt be looking to defend their title after defeating England 32-12 during 2019 in Japan. In a competition this tight though the trophy could be anyone’s, the All Blacks will likely take some beating and host France are looking quite dominant, or England could take the glory for a second time, there is everything to play for.

Rugby World Cup 2023 takes place across nine spectacular venues in France, with the opening fixture and final taking place at the iconic Stade de France. This will be the second time France has hosted the tournament, with the previous one held by Japan in 2019.

The competitors are split into four groups for the initial stages, or ‘Pools’, the top two teams of which make it through to the quarter-finals and subsequent semi-finals and final. The full details of these pools and the match schedule can be found in our guide below.
