One of the greatest horse racing events in the world is the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Affectionally referred to as ‘the Arc’, the meet is one of the most intense, prolific, and prestigious events in the social calendar.
Held every year on the first weekend of October, the finest thoroughbreds, jockeys, and trainers come together for the world’s best horse race to fight it out for their share of the prize purse, and their turn in the spotlight.
A major attraction of the Arc is undoubtedly its stunning setting at ParisLongchamp, set within the spectacular Bois de Boulogne park and the banks of the river Seine, the Eiffel Tower visible in the backdrop from the main grandstand.
The big race, of course, is the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which boasts a prize fund of €5 million, and inspired the now-famous phrase, “It’s not a race, it’s a monument’.
The Arc Weekend also includes six more Group 1 races and four Group 2, which includes the Arabian World Cup, the world’s richest race for purebred Arabian horses, with a prize fund of €1 million.
