Derby Suite Hospitality Critic Review

Introduction

The Derby Suite is situated in the prestigious Queen’s Stand at Epsom Racecourse, which is the premium enclosure at Epsom, equivalent to the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot. The Queen’s Stand is a superb design, one of the most impressive stands in British racing. The highly formal, symmetrical design – not unlike a cruise ship – emphasises the orientation directly onto the finishing line and across the course towards the race start. Natural daylight floods the building and the style is contemporary. The Derby Suite has a capacity of approx. 200 guests.

Location

The Derby Suite is located in an elevated location on the 3rd Floor (of 4) of the Queen’s Stand. It overlooks the Finish Post and the finishing straight.

Facility/Décor

The Derby Suite is a modern stylish space. The floor-to-ceiling windows showcase stunning views of the London panorama from Epsom Downs. It has two large viewing balconies, one directly opposite the Winning Post & Winner’s Enclosure and the other at the rear of the suite, overlooking the Parade Ring. The table decorations are attractive and floral showpieces are used to detract from the unattractive supporting pillars in the room.

Private Tables

Private tables are available for 2 guests or more.

Admission

Your admission badge provides access into both the Queen’s Stand and the adjacent Grandstand (Duchess’s Stand). Race viewing is standing from the outside balcony (there are no seats).

Catering

There is a canapés reception followed by a mini à la carte 4-course luncheon, including a British artisan cheese selection. Later in the day you can enjoy a quintessentially British Afternoon Tea.
