A highlight of the flat racing season is, of course, the Cazoo St Leger Festival at Doncaster Racecourse. Held every year in early September, this wonderful event is a jewel of Yorkshire and a true celebration of a grand history of racing in the area.
St Leger Festival opens to rapturous applause as retired jockeys once again return to the action for the Leger Legends charity race, a chance to see heroes of the past reclaim their glory.
Day two of the festival is Ladies Day which attracts 15,000 people to the course, a celebration of colour and world-class racing. Gentleman’s Day follows swiftly with its centrepiece race the Doncaster Cup, a true test for stayers.
The Festival is of course also home to the oldest of Britain’s five classics, the St Leger Stakes. Held on the final day of the meet, St Leger Day, this classic horse race brings the festival to a dramatic climax.
Apart from the world-class racing, the St Leger Festival is also an amazing social occasion, with the latest fashions taking centre stage alongside live entertainment, music and of course beautifully presented food and drink.
