Chester racecourse’s racing season begins every day with the three-day Boodles May Festival, effortless style and grace meet hard-fought racing action, in an intoxicating blend of British Horse Racing tradition.

Day one of the festival is ‘City Day’, which sees the absolute best contenders go head to head over seven glorious races. The signature races of the day are undoubtedly the Chester Vase Stakes and Cheshire Oaks.

Ladies Day is always the most stylish of the three, with stunning outfits taking centre stage, a special occasion for the thousands of visitors attending. Signature races of the day are The Ormonde and Dee Stakes.

The most prestigious day of the event is Chester Cup Day, which features the Chester Cup, always one of the most exciting and contested races of the festival. The atmosphere on this day is palpable, impossible to replicate, and something to be experienced.
