Silks Restaurant is situated on Level 1 (Level 3 is the top floor) of The Long Run Box complex, which is named after the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. Silks is a standard hospitality suite providing one of the best-valued viewing suites on the racecourse.
Silks Restaurant is situated at the far end of the largest temporary glass-fronted box structure in Europe (that being, they are the furthest away from the winning post). The viewing suite has a large outside viewing balcony, from where guests enjoy views of the horses as they race down the hill and over the final two fences. More distant views can be enjoyed of the horses going up the hill towards the winning post.
There is no special theming, the décor is fairly ordinary with dining on round tables.
Private Tables are available for ten guests, smaller groups will be asked to share.
A Club Admission ticket is included, which is the premier enclosure at Cheltenham. Race viewing is standing from the outside balcony (there are no seats).
The catering supplied in this facility is Cheltenham’s standard catering package, that being morning coffee & biscuits, a 4-course set Luncheon and Afternoon Tea.
The bar is complimentary including, wines, beers, spirits, and soft drinks. Please note, however, that Champagne is an extra charge.
In addition to the waiting staff, the restaurant comes with a hostess service, which enhances the drink service.
A racing tipster, usually a previous champion jockey, visits daily during lunch to give their betting recommendations.
There is a TV monitor in each box for 30-40 guests and a PA system for the guest tipster.
Car park passes are allocated on a 1:2 basis, car parking is situated in the general public areas.
A Racecard is included, and there are Tote betting facilities available.
Officially there is no dress code at Cheltenham, the course recommends dressing for the weather. However, in hospitality areas, gentlemen usually wear a suit or similar, and many ladies choose to wear county-style hats.
The racecourse postcode is GL50 4SH for use with GPS equipment. However, on a race day, customers are strongly advised to follow temporary signs when entering Cheltenham and the local area and not the brown permanent signs.
