Cheltenham Festival Dress Code

The Cheltenham Festival does not have an official dress code, as, during March, the weather can be unpredictable. The racecourse, therefore, recommends guests dress according to current conditions. However, smart dress is preferable and in large part is adopted by visitors.

At the Festival™, Gentlemen are encouraged to adopt a suit or similar, whilst many ladies wear hats in the Club Enclosure, restaurants, and hospitality facilities. There is a tendency towards tweed, which certainly suits the countryside setting. In fact, most outfits are fine as long as they are inoffensive.

Fancy dress is not permitted, however, for hospitality guests.

Important Notes

  • Check the weather beforehand and dress accordingly.
  • Two-thirds of the car parks are on grass, bear this in mind and wear suitable footwear for the conditions.
