The Restaurant in the Village is a self-contained area situated opposite the Grandstand inside the racecourse. The facility consists of a couple of restaurants with an overall capacity of 850 guests, in addition, there are private corporate chalets; this is one of the few areas at Royal Ascot where companies can book private facilities.
The location is immediately inside the track opposite the spectacle of the huge Grandstand. There is a Private Viewing Area situated close to the Winning Post, so guests do not have to venture far to view the horses as they thunder past.
The marquees are decorated to a high standard and the facility is designed in a horse-shoe shape with a huge outside feature bar in the middle, which is a great meeting point during the afternoon, especially as the bar is fitted with TV monitors to keep you in touch with the racing. There is also a garden area with outside furniture.
Private tables are available for groups of 10 guests, smaller groups will be asked to share a table. Private chalets with private garden areas are also available for groups of 30-50 guests.
You will receive a Village Enclosure admission ticket; you cannot access the Royal Enclosure or the Queen Anne Enclosure with this ticket. You cannot, therefore, cross the track to go to the Grandstand or Parade Ring, however, given the nature of this self-contained enclosure you are unlikely to venture far. All guests are asked to adhere to Ascot’s dress code, which for the Village Enclosure advises that Ladies should dress in a manner that befits a formal occasion and gentlemen should wear a suit with collared shirt and tie.
The catering consists of a standard 3-course luncheon, with the starter and main course served at the table, whilst desserts and cheeses are served buffet-style, followed later by a lovely English Afternoon Tea.
There is a Prosecco reception on arrival. The bar is complimentary and includes beers, selected wines, spirits, and soft drinks. The complimentary bar is open until 7 pm, which is one hour later than the general closing time. Please note however that Champagne and wine upgrades are an extra charge.
In addition to the waiting staff, there is a hostess service that enhances the drinks service.
There is a celebrity racing tipster included with this package, who gives his recommendations during lunch. Guests can stroll through the wider Village Enclosure, from Thursday to Saturday, at their leisure. From DJs and reinvented brass bands to Jazz and Funk at the Bandstand, three stages of music move this enclosure to a tempo of its own throughout the day until 9 pm. However, outside the confines of the Restaurant in the Village, the Village Enclosure might be a little rowdy for some.
There are ample TV screens for guests to enjoy the proceedings from the comfort of their table. A PA system is used for the racing tipster.
Car park passes are allocated on a 1:2 basis, in one of the car parks conveniently located for this facility.
A Racecard & Racing Paper is included and there are Tote betting facilities available.
If travelling by car and using Sat Nav for your journey, the Postcode is SL5 7LX. If by rail South Western Railway runs services to Ascot from both Reading, Guildford and London Waterloo. The railway station is a seven-minute walk from the racecourse.
